Pre-requests, you should complete the graduate in ECE,EEE or EMI. However most of VLSI engineers coming from ECE background.
If you are coming from IIT then top companies(like Intel, Qualcomm, samsung etc,..) will hire you very easily, otherwise you have to do courses in institute(Sougata Bhattacharjee's answer to Which are the best institutes in Bangalore for VLSI course?).
1.courses in VLSI: 1.front-end 2.back-end
2. First you have to decide the which one is suitable for you.
3. If you are good in coding and logic then front-end is good, as per my opinion.
4. After selecting the front-end or back-end ,then look for the best institutes if you are not coming from IIT or reputed college.
5. Once you finish the course then look for the service companies (Ramdas Mozhikunnath's answer to Which are the VLSI related core companies in India for a fresher? With what companies can I apply for a job if I don’t have any work experience?)to get opportunity in top companies like,. Intel, qualcomm, samsung etc,..
6. Usually top MNC companies won’t take you directly until unless if you are coming from IIT or reputed college. so through service companies you will get opportunity in top MNC companies.
Hopefully this could be helpful..
